Activities you can enjoy while staying at the House

Gisovu Guesthouse’s location makes it a perfect base for travelers interested in enjoying a number of activities in Nyungwe Forest National Park. These include;

Hiking.

While it starts at Uwinka Visitor Center, the Source of the Nile Trail is one of the best for travelers staying at Gisovu Visitor Center and provides an opportunity to discover the furthest Source of the River Nile found in Nyungwe Forest National Park.

Tea Plantation Tours.

From the Gisovu guest house visitors have a chance to explore the nearby Gisovu Tea estate found along the edge of Nyungwe Forest National Park. There are small pathways through this tea estate, allowing visitors to relish the sharp contrast between the lush rainforest and the nearby area. These tours are also unforgettable bird-watching opportunities with lots of Albertine Rift endemics to be spotted.

Chimpanzee trekking in Rwanda.

You can’t stay at Gisovu guest house and miss trekking the endangered chimpanzees in their natural habitat. This is actually the main reason why hundreds of travelers make their way into Nyungwe Forest National Park in Rwanda’s Southern Province.

The Canopy walks.

Another outstanding Nyungwe Forest activity that can also be enjoyed by Gisovu Guesthouse guests is the canopy walk whereby you walk through the 160-meter suspended bridge raised over 70 meters above the ground floor. Here, views of the orchids, forest canopies, birds, and primates are enjoyed. This activity is not for the faint-hearted but unmissable and worthwhile.

Besides Gisovu Guesthouse, other accommodation facilities used by Nyungwe Forest National Park visitors include the luxurious One & Only Nyungwe House, Nyungwe Top View Hill Lodge mainly used by midrange travelers, Gisakura Guesthouse as well as the recently established Uwinka Guesthouse among others.
